Amritsar : SS Kohli, brother of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former deputy mayor Om Prakash Gabbar are said to have joined the Aam Aadmi Party in Amritsar, Punjab.

Rumours also say that they joined Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of AAP MLAs Kulwant Singh Pandori, Jaikishan Singh Rody and Manjit Singh Bilaspur.
However, SS Kohli has also accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of misusing the name of former PM for gaining cheap publicity. Kohli’s statement came after AAP on Thursday issued a press note claiming that he had joined the party. “The AAP got a major boost in Amritsar when former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s cousin S S Kohli, a retired commander, joined the party,” read an official release of AAP.
When contacted, Kohli denied joining AAP. He instead blamed AAP for exploiting Manmohan Singh’s reputation to gain political advantage.

“I am a committed Congressmen and will always remain a Congressmen. AAP shouldn’t have used Manmohan Singh’s name for gaining publicity” he said. He further said that he is not a retired commander and is instead a businessman.

It is also being claimed that former deputy mayor Gabbar also joined the AAP with District Labor Principal Sahib Singh of Congress Labor Wing and former bank officer JS Bindra. Apart from this, along with Gabbar, leaders like Tarsem Singh Ranike, Manjit Singh Wadali, Buta Singh Sangatpura, Nishan Singh Grinding, Mazar Singh, Mani, Prince of Blue City and Kanhaiya and Dharampal have also joined AAP.
