Antilia bomb scare: Congress leader Sachin Sawant tweets BJP connected with Mercedes seized by NIA

Congress leader Sachin Sawant has now claimed Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) connection with the black Mercedes Benz seized by NIA on Tuesday which it said was used by Waze.

“Now BJP connection emerges – the Mercedes car allegedly used by Mansukh Hiren on 17th February is seen in a photograph of BJP office bearer of Thane. Would @BJP4Maharashtra leaders give explanation?”, he questioned.

In the tweet, Sawant also shared a letter issued to Deven Shelke in October 2020, post his appointment as Secretary of B’P’s Thane district Yuva Morcha.

NIA, which is probing the case of an explosives-laden Scorpio SUV founder near billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai last month, seized a black Mercedes Benz car driven by arrested police officer Sachin Waze on Tuesday, March 16. NIA recovered Rs 5 lakh in cash, a note-counting machine, petrol, diesel and some clothes from the vehicle and licence plate of the SUV from the car.

The NIA last week arrested Sachin Waze for his alleged role in placing the SUV near Ambani’s residence. He was questioned by the agency for hours on Sunday.

A Scorpio SUV with explosives and a threat letter to Mukesh and Nita Ambani was found abandoned near Ambani’s residential building on 25 February. The car was traced to a Thane-based auto parts dealer Mansukh Hiren, who had filed a stolen report with the police on 17 February.
