Guwahati, Dec 25 ( UNI)- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Udyan here on his 99th birth anniversary. He also laid the foundation stone of a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Udyan.
Recalling the stalwart’s contribution to Assam and North East, Sarma said that Vajpayee took various steps for the development of the region and put an end to issues faced by the people.
A true nationalist, a statesman par excellence, and a constant source of strength, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a beacon of integrity and probity, he added.
The Chief Minister said that adhering to the doctrine of nation first and never surrendering to political compulsions, was his distinguished characteristic.
