Imphal, Dec 25 (UNI)- Heavy firing was reported in Manipur by suspected armed militants from hilly areas on Monday.
People residing in Sabungkhok, Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, and many other Meitei villages fled as there was heavy firing from surrounding areas.
Appeals were made by the villagers to the government to provide security, as firing from the nearby hilly areas are reported regularly. Since May 3, due to a crisis between two ethnic groups, over 200 people have died and over 60,000 people have been displaced. Police said so far there has been no report of any casualty.
