Pune: As the general election for Lok Sabha 2024 is taking place in the state, police officers have increased their vigilance to ensure that no miscreant activity takes place during the election period. To ensure the same, the Pune police are taking action against those who carry illegal weapons and are trying to disturb law and order in the city.

Significantly, on Monday, May 6, Bharti Vidyapeeth Police detained a minor boy and seized one pistol and three cartridges from him. The police have seized material worth Rs 51,500 from the accused. This action was taken on Monday (6th) at Katraj.

In the wake of the Lok Sabha elections, police officers and enforcers of the investigation team of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station were patrolling. At that time, police officers Vikram Sawant and Rahul Tambe got information that a minor boy was standing near the toilet near the temple of Mahadev at the lake in Katraj village and was holding a pistol.

Accordingly, the investigation team laid a trap and detained the 17-year-old boy. Subsequently, police seized a pistol worth Rs 50,000 and three cartridges worth Rs 1,500 from the accused. In this regard, police registered a case against the accused under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act at Bharti Vidyapeeth police station.

This action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, Additional Commissioner of Police, West Provincial Division Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-II Smartana Patil, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Nandini Vagyani, by the team of Senior Police Inspector DS Patil, Police Inspector Crime Sharad Jhine, Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam, Police Sub-Inspector Dhiraj Gupta, Police Vikram Sawant, Rahul Tambe, Sachin Sarpale, Dhanaji Dhotre, Abhinay Chaudhari, Mangesh Pawar, Nilesh Khairmode, Sachin Gade, Nilesh Jamdade, Shailesh Sathe, Namdev Renuse, Chetan Gore, Mahesh Barawkar, Nilesh Dhamdhere, Hanmant Masal, Harshal Shinde, and Avadhut Jamdade.
