Mumbai :Policenama online  Chitra Wagh | The Shakti Criminal Laws (Maharashtra Amendment) Bill, 2020 was passed by the state assembly on Thursday. The bill was sent to a committee last year for suggesting changes and it was tabled in assembly with the amendments and was passed unanimously. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Chitra Wagh has demanded that the first offence under the law should be filed against a Shiv Sena MLA.

The winter session of the state assembly is being held and allegations and counter allegations are being hurled by leaders of ruling MVA and the opposition against each other. There was a discussion on the threats received by Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray. Shiv Sena MLA Ajay Choudhari had made a statement criticising the BJP.

Chitra Wagh has taken an aggressive stand and has demanded action against Choudhary. She has issued a tweet in which she says that Choudhari’s stance on women is clear from his statement. “He has used abusive language against women and it is my request to the state government that it should file the first case against Shiv Sena MLA Ajay Choudhari,” she said.

BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said that all women should be respected irrespective of political differences. Choudhary said that even if there is a minor incident involving women, BJP leaders raise a hue and cry. Why are they biased against Pednekar? Choudhari asked.

The mayor of Mumbai is the first citizen of the city and we have respect her for that. She is our pride and we cannot tolerate her insult, Choudhari added.
