Bibvewadi police arrest a chain-snatcher
Pune : Policenama online – Pune Crime News | The Bibvewadi police have arrested a thief who snatched golden chains worn by women in Bibvewadi area. The police have seized the stolen chains worth Rs 2.55 lakhs, including a necklace weighing 17 grams and a bullet used in the crime. The action was taken on February 10. (Pune Crime News)
The arrested accused has been identified as Asif Salim Patel (36) from Pune. On February 5, the complainant woman was going on a bike with her husband. Patel came on a two-wheeler from behind at Pasalkar Chowk and snatched the necklace weighing 17 grams from her neck. The investigation team of Bibvewadi Police Station arrested the accused by keeping surveillance on the suspects. When he was interrogated, he confessed to the crime. The accused is a hardened criminal and several cases have been registered against him in the past.
