CBI Lodges FIR Against 6 Including Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput Case

Cases have been registered under various sections of criminal conspiracy, abetment to suicide, theft, criminal breach of trust, cheating, conspiracy under Indian Panel Code.

The CBI took over the investigation of the 34-year-old actor yesterday after the Centre handed them the case on Bihar government’s recommendation. The CBI today formed a special team which will now start their investigation. Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14. If sources are to be believed, the CBI is expected to get cooperation from the Mumbai Police, a letter has been written to take documents from the Bihar Police.

The CBI SIT which will probe the Sushant case was formed to investigate the high profile case, this team has officers who have won Vijay Malia’s extradition from London as well as this team in the Agustawestland case, be it Lalu Yadav’s corruption case or Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The team will be headed by Manoj Sashidhar, IPS, Gujarat Cadre, while DIG Gagandeep Ghambir will supervise the probe. Anil Yadav will be the investigation officer in the team. The CBI had also said their officers are already in touch with the Bihar police for documents pertaining to the case and their findings and will take the case forward hereon. If sources are to be believed, Manoj Shashidhar will report to Additional Director Parveen Sinha, who is second after CBI Director Rishi Shukla. The Delhi Police was the DCP in the case and currently Nupur Prasad as SP in CBI Anti Corruption will also be involved in the investigation of the case.

Sushant committed suicide by hanging himself in his Mumbai home on 14 June. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday recommended a CBI inquiry into Sushant’s death on the request of Sushant’s father KK Singh. Apart from this, many other political leaders have also demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.

On the complaint of K. K. Singh, Bihar Police registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty on 25 July. Sushant’s father had filed an FIR against Rhea in Patna accusing her of cheating and threatening his son. Sushant’s family has also accused Rhea of keeping Sushant away from them.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also initiated a money laundering investigation based on the FIR of the Patna Police. The agency has also summoned Rhea for questioning on Friday.
