Punjab: Police has registered a case under section 307 of the IPC (Attempt to murder) against 20 inmates, in connection with the clashes that broke out at the Ludhiana Central jail, yesterday.

 

Four prisoners who tried to escape during the clash were apprehended and brought back by police.

Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the outbreak of violence in the central jail of Ludhiana.

 

He has directed Ludhiana Deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal to conduct the inquiry into matter.

According to the police, fire brigade is also present at the spot as a fire seemingly broke out during the clashes. However, the situation was later under control.
