Donald Trump Issues Executive Order Banning Chinese Apps Tiktok, Wechat In 45 Days

Washington: Giving 45 days of deadline to ban Chinese apps Tiktok and Wechat, the United State Of America (USA) President Donald Trump had issued an executive order on Thursday. Trump administration has deemed a national security threat on the basis that the app has been gathering data that could potentially be shared with the government of China.

The executive order says the US “must take aggressive action against the owners of TikTok to protect our national security”.Under the order, beginning in 45 days, any US transaction with ByteDance will be prohibited. On Thursday night, he issued a follow-up executive order taking similar action to ban WeChat, an app owned by China-based tech giant Tencent.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, in letter to US Congressional leaders, says he is banning any transaction starting in 45 days with messenger app WeChat’s.

Trump granted a 45-day easement for any company currently working with TikTok to end their business dealings, or face sanctions after the September deadline
