Moscow, Mar 25 (UNI) – EU-China summit | The date of the next summit between the European Union and China has not yet been set, but it may take place before July, the Financial Times reported on Saturday, citing an EU official.

“It’s up to China to propose a new date,” the official said, as quoted by the newspaper.

The Euractiv news outlet reported, citing EU officials, that the event is likely to take place after the EU-US summit.

European Council President Charles Michel will not travel to China with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and French President Emmanuel Macron in early April and will focus on the potential EU summit with China, the source added.

The announcement of von der Leyen and Macron’s visit to China came shortly after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s trip to Russia, during which he had a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The leaders signed a joint statement on a plan to develop key areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation by 2030 and discussed a number of issues, including the conflict in Ukraine.
