FIR filed against Ajit Pawar, others in Maha co-op bank scam

 Mumbai, Policenama Online – An FIR was filed against senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and other leaders in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) scam by the Mumbai Police on directions of the Bombay High Court on Monnday.

Other accused in the case include PWP leader Jayant Patil and officials from the superseded bank’s units in 34 districts in the State, an official said.  According to an officials, the case has been registered at MRA Marg police station based on the complaint by the Economic Offrnces Wing.

The accused were allegedly complicit in causing losses of Rs 1,000 crore to MSCB between 2007 and 2011.

Activist Surinder Arora had filed a complaint with the EOW in 2015 seeking that an FIR should be registered.  On August 22, the high court judges said that there was ‘credible evidence’ against the accused in the case and directed the EOW to file an FIR within five days.
Other accused in the case are Vijaysinh Mohite Patil, Anandrao Adsul, Dilip Deshmukh, Hasan Mushriff, Dilip Sopal and others have been named in the PIL.  According to the sources from the MSCB, not only the directors but the bank officials are also equally responsible for the financial irregularities in the bank.
