Giryarohan Mahasang to organize various events on occasion of International Mountain Day

Pune, Dec 5 (UNI)- Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh (AMGM) has organised various
statewide programs to celebrate the International Mountain Day on December 11. The International Mountain Day is celebrates worldwide as declared by the United Nation since 2003.

The Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh (AMGM), an organisation representing all mountaineers in Maharashtra, has been organising International Mountain Day celebrations at various locations in Maharashtra for the past three years.

Umesh Zirpe, President of Mahasangh, said in a statement that participants will engage in activities such as visiting nearby mountains to conduct Parvat Poojan, ascending forts or hills, collectively pledging to safeguard nature at these sites, and recognizing individuals contributing to conservation efforts in the mountainous regions.

International Mountain Day is themed “Restoration of Mountain Eco System,” as designated by the United Nations, and will be observed globally in alignment with this theme.

Mountains hold significant importance in human life. They are home to various ecosystems, rivers that originate from mountains, forests nurtured by these rivers, diverse flora and fauna, and the rich cultural heritage that has evolved over centuries. Mountains are timeless and provide a sense of continuity amidst the changing past and future, it added.
