Gold worth Rs 26.45 lakh seized at Pune airport from passenger who had come from Dubai
Pune : Policenama online – Officials of Pune Customs have seized gold worth Rs 26 lakh 45 thousand from a passenger who had arrived from Dubai at the Pune International Airport. In the last two-three years, gold smuggling from Dubai has increased. The officials seized bangles and chains of 24 carats from the passenger.
A passenger who had arrived from Dubai by a SpiceJet flight, was stopped by customs officials at the Pune International Airport. When he was thoroughly searched, the officials found that he was carrying bangles and chains of 24 carat worth Rs 26 lakh 45 thousand.
All the gold has been seized from the passenger and along with the passenger, the person who had come to the airport to pick him up, has also been arrested according to the Customs Act.
The Pune police are carrying out further investigation.
