New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI)- Congress leader and MP Jairam Ramesh on Friday said Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) bloc members are demanding statements from Union Home Minister Amit Shah in both the Houses on the serious security breach in Parliament.

Addressing a press conference at AICC headquarters here, Jairam Ramesh accused the government of “running” from discussion over a security breach that took place on Wednesday. “We are demanding that the HM make a statement in both the Houses on the security breach,” he said.

Talking about the seriousness of the incident, for which cases under the stringent UAPA have been filed against the accused, he said, “Earlier the government had described it as a minor incident, but then a UAPA case has been filed against the accused persons. It is clear that this is a serious matter related to the security of the country.”

Ramesh criticised the Home Minister for not making any statement on the security breach in the House. “HM goes on TV channel and talks about the incident that happened in Parliament. But he is not ready to speak in the House,” he alleged,

“The government has not accepted our demands. This is the only reason that both the Houses could not function in the last two days.”

Accusing the Home Minister of diverting attention from the issue, he alleged, “HM Shah wants to divert attention from the role of BJP MP Pratap Simha in the incident.”

Simha is said to have issued the parliamentary entry pass to Sagar Sharma, one of the intruders who jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the vistors’ gallery when the House was in session and sprayed yellow smoke.
