‘IEEE PuneCon 2022’, a three days’ international conference on ‘Information, Implementation and Innovation in Technology’ by IEEE Pune Section, I2IT & Persistent Systems

Pune: Policenama online  – IEEE PuneCon 2022 | Hope Foundation’s International Institute of Information Technology (I²IT), Pune hosted the 3-day ‘PuneCon 2022’ , an International Conference in association with IEEE Pune Section and Persistent Systems. Dr. Saifur Rahman, Director, Virginia Tech Advanced Research Institute, USA, 2022 IEEE President – Elect was the chief guest for the inaugural function.

 

Mr Girish Khilari, Chair, IEEE Pune Section, Dr Rajesh Ingale, General Chair, IEEE PuneCon 2022, Mrs Aruna Katara, President, Hope Foundation & Research Centre (HFRC), Dr Sujay Phadke, Persistent Systems, Ms Amrita Katara, Managing Trustee, HFRC, Dr. Varsha Degaonkar, Co-Chair of IEEE Pune Con 2022, Dinesh Joje, Registrar of I2IT were present at the inaugural function. This flagship conference of IEEE Pune Section is predominately sponsored by Finolex Pipes as platinum sponsor.

 

The theme of this 5th edition of conference is ‘Information, Implementation and Innovation in Technology’ which includes all aspects of Information, Implementation and Technological Innovations to bring together Researchers, Engineers, and practitioners. The conference encompasses a wide and diverse topics of applications in the fields of Science, Engineering, Technology, and Management.

 

IEEE PuneCon2022 aims to identify and explore issues, opportunities, and solutions to various problems in society, environment, and industry using cutting-edge techniques of Science and Technology by bringing together researchers from Academia and Industry as a forum. A total of 250 research papers were received out of which 60 papers were accepted after a peer reviewing process with two external reviewers with an acceptance ratio of 24%. PuneCon 2022 will be presided by 6 keynote speakers ranging from top industry and academic experts from Australia, Japan and USA. In total there are 6 tracks in the domains of Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Ecosystem, Data Science, IoT & Robotics, Communication Signal Processing and Technological Innovation.

 

Dr. Saifur Rahman emphasized that India presently has the highest numbers for IEEE members in the world with 67,000 members. He welcomed Pune section members to 100th year celebrations to be held in 2024 and be the torch bearers to other sections across the world. He mentioned that IEEE’s second largest office was located in Bangalore, India and he also highlighted the developmental activities undertaken by various societies under the IEEE umbrella. He urged young students to ask questions, dream big, and participate in the growth of individuals and society.

 

Mrs Aruna Katara shared the idea behind incorporating the HFRC and the noble causes that it caters to especially in the areas of education and health services. She also mentioned the Shri Pralhad P Chhabria Awards that applaud the achievements of young women at the threshold of their careers and are open to all IEEE women members across the SAARC countries.

 

Mr Girish Khilari spoke about IEEE Pune Section’s growth over the years. He also mentioned about the various initiatives, activities and flagship events being carried out by IEEE Pune section in various niche technological domains.

 

Dr Rajesh Ingale highlighted the benefit of such conferences to the academic and industry communities by bringing together and sharing the common platform of knowledge sharing and networking.

 

Dr Sujay Phadke, Persistent Systems made a note about the much needed ecosystem of academic and industry collaboration. He stressed that industry must fund academic bodies for joint research collaboration.

 

Ms Amrita Katara, Managing Trustee, HFRC shared key strategies and activities led by I2IT in the areas of research & development, capacity building, consultancy projects.

 

Welcome address given by Dr Vaishali V. Patil, Principal, I2IT. Vaidehi Banerjee compered the program. Dr. Varsha Degaonkar expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, keynote speakers and IEEE Pune Section office bearers.
