Patna, Dec 6 (UNI)- Three days after Congress suffered crushing defeats in three states of Hindi heartland, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said opposition alliance. INDIA should settle all issues to gear up for 2024 Lok Sabha election as early as possible.

Kumar told media persons here that there was nothing to discuss the results of assembly elections in three states of Hindi belt– Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh. BJP had won elections in all these states but Congress was winner there in last assembly elections held in 2018, he added.

“Such things happen in democracy and Congress has gained much votes in all three states but party failed to get seats to form the government”, the Chief Minister said, adding that Congress had won in Telangana.

He had started uniting all opposition parties at national level to counter BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha election but things did not move faster as he desired, Kumar pointed out.

Nitish, to a query, dismissed reports that he was interested or he would stake claim to lead the opposition alliance INDIA, saying all these talks were baseless as he had no such personal ambition.

His only ambition to make efforts for united fight of opposition against BJP to oust Narendra Modi government from power in 2024, he added.

The Chief Minister denied reports that scheduled meeting of INDIA on December 6 was postponed due to his decision not to attend it. He had fever and cough so he was not able to attend the meeting but was prepared to send representatives of his party, he maintained.

Kumar responding to a query of media persons said that his government had been demanding special category status to Bihar since long. If SCS was granted, Bihar would develop with faster pace, he added.
