Kolkata/Murshidabad, Dec 21 (UNI)- The Income Tax (IT) department has seized some alleged unaccounted items, including gold and Rs 70 lakh in cash, after raiding locations linked to West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress MLA Bayron Biswas, sources claimed on Thursday.

The IT officials, including those from the department’s audit section, raided six locations in Murshidabad and Birbhum districts at around 5-30 pm on Wednesday.

Biswas, an MLA from Sagardighi in Murshidabad, was elected in a by-poll on a Congrss ticket, but crossed over to the Trinamool within three months, Biswas is a big businessman and runs a hospital, chemical plant, tea manufacturing business and some other entrepreneurial ventures.

TMC spokesman Kunal Ghosh, reacting to the IT raid on Biswas’ property, accused the BJP of indulging in vendetta politics by using the central agencies after having lost elections. BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya, however, his party has nothing to do with the raids.
