Jodhpur: Asaram’s health deteriorates, admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in emergency

Jodhpur : Asaram’s health who is imprisoned in Jodhpur jail of Rajasthan has suddenly deteriorated. Asaram has been taken to the Emergency Ward of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital after a heart attack.

Earlier, Asaram was given first aid in a jail dispensary on the information of sudden worsening of health. But now the jail staff have shifted Asaram to the Emergency Ward of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. Asaram is facing life imprisonment for sexual exploitation with a minor.

In the Asaram case, the Rajasthan High Court Jodhpur was to be heard in the sexual abuse case last week. But Asaram’s lawyer had to come from Mumbai but he did not arrive. In this case, the lawyers requested to postpone the hearing. Now the appeal will be heard on 8 March. Asaram was sentenced to life imprisonment by the SC ST court.

In 2013, a minor girl accused Asaram of sexual exploitation at the Manai Ashram near Jodhpur. After which Asaram was arrested on 31 August 2013 from Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Asaram is booked under POSCO, Juvenile Justice Act, rape, criminal conspiracy and many other cases. In 2014, Asaram filed a bail petition in the Supreme Court, but the court rejected it. Then in April 2018, Jodhpur Special Court found Asaram guilty of raping a minor girl. The court sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment under the POCSo Act and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
