KCC bank’s NPA mounts to Rs 1103.20 Cr : HP CM

Dharmshala, Dec 21 (UNI)- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday informed the Assembly that the Non-Performing Assets (NPA) of the Public sector Kangra Central Cooperative Bank mounted to Rs 1103.20 Crore till November 30, 2023.

Sukhu, who holds the Finance portfolio said this while replying to a question raised by Congress member Rajinder Rana during the question hour. The Chief Minister said the NPA was increased up to Rs 1147.90 Crore till the end of March 31, 2023.

He said that the government effected recovery of Rs 44.70 Crore from April 1, 2023, to November 30, 2023, and efforts are continuing to recover the big defaulter.

Sukhu said that the government would discourage the practice of lending big tickets out of the box but it should be ensured that RBI guidelines should be followed before lending big loans.

Members wanted the government that it should ensure that collateral of the lender should be attached to ensure to end the NPA under the RBI guidelines.

The Chief Minister also informed that the functioning of the bank is improving as it recorded 47.77 Crore net profit and 171.40 Cr gross profit in the last financial year. He said that bank recorded a net profit of Rs 40.35 crore in the previous FY 2021-22.

Sukhu informed that KCC bank has a capital asset of Rs 16274.98 Crore till March 31, 2023. He said that NPA is prepared as system-generated and not manual.
