Maha is lawless : Patole

Mumbai,June 9 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole on Friday alleged that there is no law and order in the state, and a “jungle raj” is on.

Over the past few days, killings, rapes, riots, threats to opponents and attacks on opposition leaders have been happening daily in different parts of the state, he said.

Patole wondered whether there was any government in the state and if Maharashtra at all had a home minister.

“The situation in the state is so frightening that such questions should arise. Every day there are reports of murders, rapes, robberies, riots, death threats to opponents, attacks on opposition leaders from various parts of the state.

“There have been riots in ten cities in the state in the last three months. Every day there are incidents of tension from different cities. With the blessings of the government, the ruling parties are creating religious discord in the state and are consciously trying to set Maharashtra on fire,” he alleged.

Patole said instead of taking strict action against the rioters, the police are sitting idle, while “gangsters and social miscreants are making a mess of Maharashtra every day”.

“If we come to power, we will take strict action against criminals and rioters within 24 hours,” he promised.
