Mumbai, June 11 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee(MPCC) President Nana Patole on Sunday demanded a high-level probe and immediate suspension of the police and senior police officers who baton-charged warkaris.
Patole said the police have committed the “sin” of defaming the Ashadhi Vari of the Warkari which is a rich tradition of Maharashtra for hundreds of years. Shinde-Fadnavis’s police have gone to the extent of baton charging.
Strongly condemning the police lathi charge on the warkari devotees while the departure ceremony of Santshrestha Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhi was taking place from Alankapuri, Patole said that the Shinde-Fadnavis government is an “eclipse” for Maharashtra.
“Crimes are happening every day in this state but the person holding the post of Home Minister (Devendra Fadnavis) has no idea about it.
The baton attack on the workers is a gross insult to the devotees and Lord Vitthala who were peacefully leaving for Pandharpur,”he added.
