MP CM, others take oath as MLAs

Bhopal, Dec 18 (UNI)- Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other senior legislators took oath as MLAs on Monday, which is the inaugural day of a four-day special session of the state’s newly-constituted 16th Assembly that has a total strength of 230 members.

The proceedings were conducted by Pro-tem Speaker Gopal Bhargava. Yadav, Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar, deputy chief ministers Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla, erstwhile CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya swore allegiance one after another. They were followed by others.

As soon as the day’s business commenced, the Pro-tem Speaker adhered to tradition by asking members to observe a brief silence as a mark of respect to those who departed during the inter-session period.

The swearing-in process will continue on Tuesday. The Speaker’s election and the gubernatorial address are slated for Wednesday.
