Nandurbar police arrest tanker thief, seize valuables worth Rs 45 lakh

Jalgaon :  Policenama onlineThe Nandurbar Police Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested a person for stealing two tankers hired by Satpuda sugar factory at Lonkheda in the district. The arrested person hails from Punjab. Two tankers have been impounded from his possession. Two persons have been booked at the Shahada police station of the Nandurbar Police.

 

The accused have been identified as Jobanpreet Singh Tarlok Singh and Balwinder Singh Baldev Singh, both residents of Amritsar, Punjab. Sunil Singh Raghvir Singh Kala (45) lodged a complaint at the Shahada police station in this regard.

 

According to the police, the accused were working as tanker drivers. Both stole the tankers belonging to the complainant on February 26. Complainant Sunil Singh Kala runs a transport business. He had rented out these tankers worth Rs 45 lakh to Satpuda sugar factory. The accused used to work as drivers of these tankers.

 

The LCB sent its team to Amritsar to nab the culprits. It was a challenge before the police to trace the culprits merely on the basis of their names. The police got details of the accused’s wife. They kept a watch at his house.

 

The LCB team got a tip-off that the accused was coming to meet his wife on March 3. The police laid a trap around his house. As the accused arrived there, he got wind of the police presence. He escaped. The police chased him for one kilometre. They nabbed him. After sustained interrogation he admitted to have committed the theft. The police laid a trap to nab the other culprit Jobanpreet Singh at Mehta. However, he came to know about the police presence and escaped.

 

The arrested, Balwinder Singh Baldev Singh (39), a resident of Pikhipind of Taran district, was produced before the Shahada court, which sent him to police custody till March 9. He told the police that they hid the tankers at a dhaba on Pimpalner-Taharabad road in Dhule district.

 

The police impounded the tankers from the dhaba. The absconding accused, Jobanpreet Singh, would be arrested soon, said Superintendent of Police PR Patil.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of SP PR Patil, Addl SP Vijay Pawar. LCB PI Ravindra Kalamkar, API Sandeep Patil, police personnel Dipak Gore, Mohan Dhamdhere, and Vijay Dhivare took part in the action. SP Patil announced a reward for the police team.
