Nashik: High voltage electric shock kills a 11-year-old boy

Nashik: A 11-year-old died while sitting on a tamarind tree in Warpada (Tal. Surgana) after being struck by high voltage electric shock from electricity cables nearby. The deceased has been identified as Naresh Ramji Deshmukh (age 11).

Naresh was a resident of Barda (Tal. Waghai, Dist. Dang) in Gujarat and lived in Songadh Vyara. Naresh and his sister Uma had come to live with their grandfather Balu Gavit in Warpada for ten to twelve days as their parents had gone to Pimpalgaon area for labor. On Monday (25th) evening, Naresh climbed a tamarind tree near the village.Reportedly, high voltage power cables passed through the tamarind tree.

While climbing the tree, his foot touched the electric cable and he was struck by electric shock, leaving him dead on the tree. As he did not return home till late at night, his family and relatives started searching for him in lakes, wells, and other places.

On Tuesday (January 26) morning, while Bhaskar Suryavanshi was going to the field, he spotted someone on the tree. When looked closer, he found Naresh’s body on the tree.

Based on the information given by Constable Pandurang Waghmare, Sub-Inspector of Police Nilesh Bodke, M. K. Pawar and Gaikwad conducted preliminary interrogation and registered a case of accidental death. Police Inspector Diwansingh Vasave is further investigating the case.
