Policenama Online –Pune: Under the Smart City initiative, smart signal systems will be tested for the next eight days in five intersections along the Senapati Bapat Road and Ganeshkhind Road in Pune.
There are about 264 traffic controllers in the city.  The civic body has been trying for five years for synchronisation of the controller according to a road track signal but was not successful.
Therefore, Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) has taken care of it. Under that, the Adaptive Traffic Management System (ATMS) will be implemented.
The ‘ATMS’ system will be installed in five signals on Senapati Bapat Road and Ganeshkhind Road for 8 days.  A team of Government Engineering College and IIT Mumbai will submit its technical evaluation and report to the authorities.
About Smart Signal System:
1. Synchronisation of all traffic signals.
2. The number of vehicles that break the rules will be reported.
3. You will get information about the number of vehicles on the road at a time.
4. You will get a real time picture of the city traffic.
All this will be useful for making transportation decisions.
