Pune: 23-Year-Old Girl Attempted Suicide After Being Refused to Marry; Accused Boyfriend Booked for Cheating

Pune: A 23-year-old girl from Satara attempted suicide by cutting the vein of her hand after her boyfriend refused to marry her. In this case, Hadapsar police have registered a case against the young man for cheating the victim and sexually assaulting her by giving her a fake promise.

As per the police information, the victim girl and the accused were identified in October 2023. The accused, identified as Dattatray Kailas Kadam (25), a resident of Shivtejnagar, Kalepadal area of Hadapsar, befriended the victim on social media. After that, the accused started talking with the victim, through which he later proposed to the girl for marriage.

The accused falsely promised the girl marriage. After gaining her trust, the accused took the victim to various lodges in the city and maintained sexual relations with her. This incident took place between October 2023 and April 22, 2024, in the Shewalwadi, Manjari, and Hadapsar areas. However, later reneging on his promise, the accused brazenly refused the girl to marry.

Feeling distressed and cheated, the depressed girl attempted suicide by cutting the vein of her hand. After this, Hadapsar police registered a case against the accused under IPC 376, 376/2/N, and 506. Hadapsar police are conducting further investigations in this regard.
