Pune ACB nabs govt officer who asked for bribe to give info under RTI

Pune : Policenama Online –Seeking a bribe of Rs 5,000 for the information sought under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, proved costly for the officer at the office of Dy Registrar of the Co-operative Society.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune unit, on Friday afternoon caught accused Umesh Bendhari (46) red handed while accepting the bribe at Sakhar Sankul in Shivajinagar. Now an FIR has been registered against with Shivajinagar police station for offences under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption.

According to ACB, the complainant had applied for information in the office of sub-registrar cooperative society of Vadgaonsheri. However, Bendhari asked for bribe. The complainant approached the ACB which laid a trap and nabbed Bendhari.

Earlier on Thursday, the ACB had nabbed two policemen and one clerk of the Pune police for accepting bribes in three different incidents.
