Pune | Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj set up a Hindavi kingdom, says Chandrakant Patil
Pune : Policenama online – Bharatiya Janata Party’s state president Chandrakant Patil said Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had set up a (Pune) Hindavi kingdom and not one based on secularism. He had unified the Hindus and taught the foot soldiers to live for country, god and religion. His comments have created a new controversy.
He strongly defended his comments about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He said some people had threatened him and told him that they will organise protests. “I want to clarify that we won’t provoke someone but if someone provokes us, we will not keep quiet,’’ he said.
He supported the BJP’s stance on Hindutva and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognised the needs of the Hindus.
“Since Lord Ram was our ancestor, a decision was taken to build a huge temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. For many years, the situation in the country was such that people used to criticise their own religion and praise other religions,” he said.
