Pune: Eight women bouncers were suspended on Friday (December 25) by the Shivajinagar Covid Jumbo Hospital administration. The bouncers had engaged in a free-style fight with nurses who had gathered at the hospital demanding payment of their pending wages on Thursday (December 24).

Shivajinagar police had rushed to the spot after receiving information about the altercation between the contractual employee nurses and the bouncers on Thursday. It was decided to settle the matter and not file a case with the police. The hospital administration however took serious cognizance of the matter and suspended the bouncers.

The Shivajinagar jumbo Covid hospital has been set up by the district administration for treating COVID19 patients in Pune city and the nearby areas. The hospital has been in controversy since the day it began.

The administration has asked a private agency Medbro to manage the hospital. However, doctors and nursing staff have time and again alleged that their wages were not cleared by the hospital administration or agency.

The nurses and doctors had protested against the hospital administration last month. They again gathered on Thursday (December 24) to protest against the delay in their payment. Nurses and ward boys came together during the protest.

The women bouncers deployed at the hospital approached the nurses and after a while they started arguing with the protesters. Some bouncers also abused and roughed up the nurses.
