Action taken against four hotels in Pune for remaining open beyond stipulated time

Pune : Policenama onlinePune Crime | After restrictions were lifted, many youths are spending more time in hotels and hookah parlours. The Social Security Cell of the Pune police took action against four hotels which were open till late hours. Action was taken against Water Bar and Kitchen located at Mundhwa, The Houz Affairs, Village Roof Top Lounge and Dining, Agent Jack’s Bar, NIBM Road under section 33 A of Maharashtra Police Act and three people were apprehended from The Houz Affairs. Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has issued orders that action should be taken against hookah parties being held in hotels late in the night. Accordingly, in the last four weeks, hotels which were open till late in the night, were told to down their shutters on time. However, action was taken against hotels which violated these orders.

 

As a part of a special drive, for the last four weeks, being undertaken by the Social Security Cell, newly recruited nine probationary PSIs and Anti Narcotics Cell staff were also helping the SSC staff.

 

As a part of the special drive, hotels such as Water Bar, The Houz Affair, Rooftop Village and Agent Jack’s were raided because they were kept open after the time limit on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

 

The team of police officials came to know that a hookah bar was functioning at The Houz Affair at Kalyani Nagar at 2.55 am. A raid was carried out along with the panch witnesses. Six hookah pots, chilim, flavoured tobacco products, three mobiles, 1 DVR and other equipment worth Rs 89,000 was seized and the manager of The Houz Affair Saurabh Dattatraya Navgana (35), a resident of Kalyani Nagar, Prasanna Uttam Pathak (24), a resident of Koregaon Park, supervisor Shravan Bhutan Mandal (34), a resident of Wadgaon Sheri were apprehended a case has been filed under sections 4 (A) and 21 (A) of the IPC and cigarette and other tobacco products rules (Maharashtra) rules -2018 at the Yerawada police station.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials including Senior PI Rajesh Puranik, PSI Sridhar Khadke, 9 probationary PSIs and policemen of Anti-Narcotics Cell-2 under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Srinivas Ghadge.
