Pune: Young Woman Was Abused and Assaulted Over Undue Interference in Relationship in Koregaon Park

Pune: A 29-year-old girl was abused and assaulted by a young man over her unnecessary meddling in his relationship. Furthermore, the accused also attempted to molest the girl and engage in some obscene behaviour with her. This startling incident took place in the Koregaon Park area on Sunday, March 31, at around 1.30 p.m. in a public space in front of Hotel Plunge.

According to the information, the accused, Gaurav Duggal, a resident of Brahma Suncity, Vadgaon Sheri, Pune, had an affair with the victim’s friend. The victim girl complained that the accused was harassing her friend by repeatedly calling and meeting her. Meanwhile, when the victim girl confronted the accused and asked him to stop harassing her friend, the accused astonishingly abused the girl, asking her to stay out of his case.

The accused abused the girl in derogatory language and assaulted her. Furthermore, the accused also molest her, saying he would not let the victim girl go home, and he did obscene acts with the girl.

After that, the victim girl lodged a complaint against the accused at the Koregaon Park Police Station. Accordingly, the Koregaon police booked the accused under IPC 354, 323, and 506. Police sub-inspector Ashwini Bhosle is conducting further investigation into this case.

Furthermore, in another perturbing incident, a young woman living in Wagholi was sexually assaulted by the victim over a false promise of marriage. The incident took place between January 2023 and February 2024 at the victim’s residence. In this regard, the victim girl filed a police complaint against the accused at Lonikand police station on Sunday.

As per the police complaint, the accused, Santosh Sudhakar Shendge, age 31, a resident of Phulare Vasti, District Ahmednagar, cheated the young woman and fell her into his love trap, promising her marriage. After gaining her trust, the accused maintained physical relations with the girl. However, later, he reneged on his promise and started avoiding the woman after she started asking the accused about marriage.

After realising that she had been cheated, the woman filed a police complaint. Accordingly, the police filed a complaint under IPC 376/2/N against the accused and initiated an investigation into the case.
