Pune: Policenama online – Pune Crime | A gang that used to steal vehicles after conducting a recce and then sell them has been nabbed by the Anti-Dacoity and Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad 2. Five vehicles worth over Rs 12.13 lakh have been recovered from the gang. The action was taken at Vrundavan Mangal Karyalaya at Theurgaon in Haveli taluka. (Pune Crime)
The arrested have been identified as Ganesh Arun Raut (34), hailing from Penur village of Solapur dist, Dhanaji Nagnath Lokare (37), from Lavul village of Solapur dist, Aba Dattatraya Doke (24), from Penur village of Solapur dist and Vijay Boravade from Beed. Akshay alias Bhaiya Chavan, a resident of Hadapsar, is absconding. The police are searching for him. Five offences committed by the accused have been detected during investigation.
Officials and personnel of the Anti-Dacoity and Vehicle theft Squad 2 were investigating a vehicle theft case registered at the Kondhwa police station. Policemen Amol Sartape, Sandeep Yele and Rahul Ingle got a tip-off that Ganesh Raut, Dhanaji Lokar and Aba Doke had a tractor with an erased registered number plate and a car without a number plate.
The squad personnel saw the accused moving suspiciously in the area of Vrundavan Mangal Karyalaya at Theurgaon. They were detained and it was found that they had stolen the tractor from Kondhwa, which was in their possession. The car was stolen from the jurisdiction of Loni Kalbhor police station. An offence was registered against them and they were arrested. During the investigation, it was revealed that they had another accomplice and accused Samadhan alias Mauli Shivaji Chaure, who was also arrested later.
Choure revealed during interrogation that they had given another car to one of their accomplices to steal more vehicles. The stolen vehicles were sold in Beed at Sainath Motors owned by Vijay Borvade, who admitted that he got three four-wheelers from Ganesh Raut.
The police seized five vehicles, including a car, a pick-up van, a tractor and a trolley, a Bolero and a truck. The absconding accused Akshay alias Bhaiya Chavan used to conduct a recce and would give details about vehicles to the other accused. Five offences committed by the accused in Kondhwa, Hadapsar, Loni Kalbhor and Lonikand have been detected.
The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar. PI Sunil Pandharkar, API Vivek Padavi, police personnel Uday Kalbhor, Rajesh Abhange, Dinakar Lokhande, Vinayak Ramane, Manoj Kharpude, Shivaji Jadhav, Ganesh Lokhande, Sudesh Sapkal, Amol Sartape, Rahul Ingle, Sandip Ingle, Vinayak Yevale and Vikrant Saswadkar participated in the actin.
