Pune Crime News | Mobile thief nabbed at Swargate ST Stand; 12 stolen mobile phones seized

Pune : Pune Crime News | The police have arrested a mobile phone thief at the Swargate ST Stand. He used to take advantage of crowds and steal passengers’ cellphones.

 

The police recovered 12 mobile phones of various companies valued at Rs 60,000 from the possession of the arrested accused. The accused has been identified as Ankush Ashok Karad (39), a resident of Pathardi taluka of Ahmednagar district.

 

A case was registered at the Swargate Police Station on June 5 in this connection. The complainant was boarding an ST bus to Shrigonda when his relatives saw a person stealing his mobile phone and running away. His relatives raised the alarm. Cops patrolling at the ST stand nabbed the thief. They found the complainant’s mobile in his possession. On sustained interrogation, they recovered 12 stolen mobiles from the accused.

 

Police constable Mukund Taru is investigating the case.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil, DCP Smatana Patil and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.

 

This action was taken by Senior PI Ashok Indalkar, PI Somnath Jadhav, API Prashant Sande, PSI Ashok Yewle, policemen Mukund Taru, Shiva Gaikwad, Firoz Shaikh, Ramesh Chavan, Sandip Ghule, Anees Shaikh, Dipak Khendad, Suraj Pawar and Pravin Godse.
