Pune: Warje Malwadi Police Crack Down on Gang Leader and Accomplice Wanted in MCOCA Case

Pune: In a significant breakthrough, the Warje Malwadi police have apprehended two individuals, including the alleged gang leader, who had been on the run for a month following the registration of a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The arrested suspects have been identified as Ganesh alias Guddya Anil Patekar, the purported leader of the gang, and his accomplice Nilesh alias Nilu Manoj Edke.

Ganesh, aged 22 and a resident of Shivne, Pune, was nabbed from the Warje area, while his accomplice Nilesh, also 22 years old and hailing from Ramnagar, Warje, Pune, was apprehended from Solapur. The arrests come in connection with a crime registered on February 23, involving various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 326, 143, 147, 149, 336, 323, 504, and 506. Additionally, charges under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999, have been incorporated.

The arrests were made following diligent efforts by the police, with crucial information leading to Nilesh’s apprehension in Solapur. Acting on the tip-off, a team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Ranjit Mohite and officers Pradip Shelar, Vijay Muruk, Pratik More, and Ajay Kamthe swiftly moved to Sadarbazar Police Station, Solapur City, where Nilesh was taken into custody.

Similarly, the main accused, Ganesh, alias Guddya Anil Patekar, was apprehended the following day in Warje. Police officers Pradip Shelar and Ajay Kamthe received intelligence that the wanted gang leader of the case, Guddya Anil Patekar, was coming to Varanasi Society, Warje, to collect money from his friend. Based on this, police officers planned a meticulous operation involving several officers, culminating in his detention from Varanasi Society, Warje.

The gang leader Ganesh alias Gudya Anil Patekar and his gang member Nilesh alias Nilu Manoj Edke, who have been absconding from MCOCA for a month, have been detained and arrested by the investigation team. Further investigation is being conducted by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kothrud Division, Bhimrao Tele.

This action was taken by the team of police personnel including the officers of the investigation team such as Assistant Police Inspector Ranjit Mohite, Police Sub-Inspector Rameshwar Parve, Police Constable Pradip Shelar, Bhujang Ingle, Police Constable Vijay Bhuruk, Bunty More, Daksh Patil, Manoj Pawar, Srikant Bhangre, Sambhaji Darade, Shirish Gawde, Ajay Kamthe Satyajit Londhe, and Amol Sutkar under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, Upper Commissioner of Police, Western Regional Division Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Circle 03 Sambhaji Kadam, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kothrud Division Bhimrao Tele, Senior Police Inspector of Warje Malwadi Police Station Manoj Shedge, and Inspector of Police (Crime) Nilakant Jagtap.
