Pimpri Chinchwad Police seize 97 swords from DTDC courier godown in Dighi

Pimpri : Policenama online Pune Crime | After an illegal stock of swords was found in Aurangabad in DTDC courier company’s office, the Pune police is in action mode. Against this background, Senior PI Dilip Shinde of Dighi police station had issued instructions that all parcels in various courier companies should be scanned. Accordingly, during scanning, the police seized 97 swords, 2 kukri knives and 9 sheaths totally worth Rs 3 lakh 22 thousand ordered through a courier firm. The police have filed against four people. The accused have been identified as Umesh Sud, a resident of house number 40, Green Avenue, Amritsar, Punjab, Anil Hon, a resident of Aurangabad, Maninder, a resident of Khalsa Force shop, Ghanta Ghar complex, Market Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, Punjab and Akash Patil, a resident of Chitali, Rahta taluka, Ahmednagar district.

 

According to the police, an illegal stock of swords was found at DTDC courier office in Aurangabad. Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash had issued instructions that all parcels coming to courier company offices should be carefully scanned and his order was being complied.

 

DTDC courier company has a centralised distribution centre at Dighi and has a godown in the same area. The accused Umesh Sud had sent two wooden boxes to Anil Hon through the parcel service of DTDC courier office. When these boxes were checked by an x-ray machine, swords were seen. The police seized 92 swords, 2 kukri knives and 9 sheaths totally worth Rs 3 lakh 22 thousand.

 

The accused Maninder had sent the accused a parcel to Akash Patil. When this parcel was checked by a x-ray machine in the godown of the DTDC courier company’s godown, swords were seen. The police seized 5 swords worth Rs 15,000.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials including Senior PI Dilip Shinde, PI Prakash Jadhav, PSI Dnyaneshwar Dalvi, PSI Bhandare, policemen Amol Jadhav, Shekhar Shinde, Ghugre, police naik Hemant Dumbre under the guidance of CP Krishna Prakash, Addl CP Sanjay Shinde, DCP Manchak Ipper and ACP Prerna Katte.
