The mother-in-law did not cook food and hence, her granddaughter did not get food. There was a quarrel between both the women on this issue. The daughter-in-law killed her mother-in-law due to this. The deceased has been identified as Sushma Ashok Mule (71), a resident of Panchvati Society, Chakan. The police have arrested Suvarna Sagar Mule (32). PSI Vinod Subhash Shendkar has lodged a complaint.

According to the police, there were frequent quarrels between both the women. On Thursday afternoon, daughter-in-law Suvarna had gone to attend a haldi kumkum function. When she came home late in the evening, she found that her daughter was crying. Her daughter said the grandmother had not given her bhakri and only given her rice. This led to a quarrel between Suvarna and her mother-in-law.

Meanwhile, when Suvarna’s mother-in-law was making a bhakri, Suvarna pushed her aside. They pushed each other and both fell on the floor. Suvarna, who was extremely angry, throttled her mother-in-law with a nylon rope. Suvarna’s mother-in-law became unconscious. Suvarna told her husband that she had fallen on the ground after her head started spinning.

When Suvarna’s husband Sagar came home, he admitted his mother to a hospital. However, she had already died. When the Chakan police were informed, PSI Shendkar and others rushed to the hospital. Since they had a suspicion, they also informed their seniors.

Senior PI Vaibhav Shingare questioned Suvarna’s husband Sagar and later questioned Suvarna in detail. Suvarna informed the policemen about the events. She admitted killing her mother-in-law by throttling her with a nylon rope.
