Pune : Policenama onlineThe Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reportedly canceled the site clearance for proposed airport at Purandar, in yet another blow to the delayed project.

President of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) Sudhir Mehta tweeted on Wednesday that it appears that the site clearance by the Ministry of Defence to the proposed airport at Purandar is canceled. He tweeted, “….which means the project is dead. Request the state government to clarify about plans for a new airport at Pune.”

The state government had declared that the proposed airport will come up on 2,832 hectares of land in seven villages in Purandar taluka. All required permissions from central and the state government, Airport Authority, Defence Ministry and other concerned departments have been received. But the villagers and local MLA Sanjay Jagtap had opposed the project. If the MoD has canceled the site clearance, it will only add to hurdles.
