Pune News | Illegal structures pulled down in Bharati Vidyapeeth area

Pune: Policenama online  – Pune News | The civic body took action against illegal constructions in the front and side margin built by shopkeepers on a temporary basis on the road opposite Bharti Vihar, Patang Plaza Society and PICT College. Tin sheds, boards and illegal stalls were removed. The operation was carried out by Building Department zone 5 and Dhankawadi-Sahakar Nagar ward office. (Pune News)

The action was carried out by Executive Engineer Ramesh Kakade, Deputy Engineer Shailendra Kathvate, engineer Vandana Gavari, junior engineer Piyush Vighe, Kishan Chavan, Sheetal Khopde and anti-encroachment inspector with the help of two JCBs, 10 employees and the police.

Many customers were parking their vehicles in front of hotels and shops till the road. This was resulting in traffic jams. Residents of societies had complained to the building department about the illegal constructions made by restaurant owners. Hence, action was taken against illegal structures, officials said.

There are crowds in the morning and evening and students and senior citizens have to face inconvenience. Residents of societies also had to face inconvenience. Hence, action was taken, said Deputy Engineer Shailendra Kathvate.

Surekha Bhange, Assistant Commissioner, said, “Illegal restaurants and unauthorised stalls and tables are leading to overcrowding. Hence, vehicles are being parked till the middle of the road. Unauthorised parking is leading to traffic jams in Trimurti Chowk area. If shopkeepers and illegal stall holders don’t cooperate, anti-encroachment action will be taken.”
