Pune: Policeman Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident During VIP Arrangement Prep

Pune: In a harrowing incident, a policeman going for VIP arrangements suffered severe injuries when his bike was struck by a speeding two-wheeler. The collision, occurring on February 11 around 6:15 am near the gate of the Maharashtra State Wakhar Corporation in Moshi, has prompted MIDC Bhosari police to launch an investigation and register a case against the reckless bike rider.

The injured officer, identified as Santosh Goraksh Bharat, 35, a resident of Jagdale House, Sainath Nagar, Nigdi Village, filed a complaint at the MIDC Bhosari Police Station on Thursday, February 15. The case, under sections IPC 279, 337, and 338, was registered against the accused, Chandrakant Kajeppa Talkeri, 27, a resident of Charholi, riding the bike with registration number MH 14 LG 5317.

According to police reports, Bharat and his colleague, Constable Mayur Ghadge, were en route to Alandi police station on their two-wheeler bearing registration number MH 14 KR 2482 to prepare for VIP arrangements. However, their journey took a tragic turn when Talkeri, allegedly speeding recklessly on his bike from Alankapuram Chowk, collided with their vehicle near the Maharashtra State Vakhar Corporation gate in Moshi.

The impact of the collision left Bharat critically injured, with a fractured left leg and severe limb injuries, as he was thrown onto the road. While Talkeri fled the scene, leaving Bharat in agony, the MIDC Bhosari police swiftly initiated an investigation under the guidance of Sub-Inspector of Police Wavhal.
