Pune – PMRDA has proposed another metro line from Shivajinagar to Loni Kalbhor and from Hadapsar-Gadital to Saswad. The survey work of this route is in the final stage by Delhi Metro.

PMRDA has undertaken a metro project from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. Meanwhile, there was a demand to take this metro from Shivajinagar to Hadapsar. Therefore, it was decided to build a metro route from Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar-Hadapsar-Fursungi. But the interim Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar instructed the PMRDA that the metro line from Shivajinagar to Sulabh Garden at Fursungi should be extended to Loni Kalbhor. And the report submitted by Delhi Metro should be amended and sent.

PMRDA officials said that traffic surveys are an important part of this new route survey. And that the survey of these routes has been expedited by the Delhi Metro due to smooth flow of traffic.

While surveying the route from Shivajinagar to Loni Kalbhor, the PMRDA had decided to propose another metro line from Hadapsar to Saswad railway station. Accordingly, this work has been given to Delhi Metro only. Therefore, the Delhi Metro will soon survey two routes from Shivajinagar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad and submit a report soon, officials said.

The route between Shivajinagar Court and Fursungi was 15.53 Km long but now it has been proposed to extend till Loni Kalbhor. Therefore, the stretch will be 20 km long. It is planned to run 57 Metro cars on this entire route. The metro line between Gadital and Saswad will be three kilometers long which is going to be completely ‘elevated’.

Proposed route:

The earlier proposed route was Shivajinagar (Court) -Railway Colony-Collector Office, MG Road-Fashion Street-Manmadevi Chowk-Racecourse-Kalubai Chowk-Vaiduwadi-Hadapsar Fata-Hadapsar Bus Depot-Gliding Center-Fursungi IT Park-Sulabh Garden. Now, it will be extended from Sulabh Garden to Loni Kalbhor and work is underway to prepare a report on that route.
