Pune: State Excise Dept’s action! Premium quality liquor, valuables worth Rs 23 lakh seized in Lonavala (Video)

Pune: Two persons were arrested for illegal transport of premium quality foreign liquor and valuables, including a vehicle, worth over Rs 23.15 lakh were seized on Tuesday in Lonavala.

The action was taken by the Pune Flying Squad 1 of the State Excise Department near The Lagoona Resort on Gold Valley Road at Tungarli within the limits of Lonavala.

The accused have been booked and arrested under provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act and have been identified as Bapu Vitthal Aher and Sunil Ramchandra Kadam.

The Pune Flying Squad 1 of the State Excise Department got a tip-off that premium quality foreign liquor was being transported illegally for sale within the limits of Lonavala city. The squad intercepted and examined a vehicle (MH43CC9267), in which they found 50 sealed bottles of high quality foreign liquor of various brands. The bottles, along with the vehicle, were seized.

The action was taken under the guidance of State Excise Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi, Director (Vigilance and Enforcement) Prasad Surve, Pune Divisional Deputy Commissioner Dhomkar, Superintendent Charansingh Rajput, Deputy Superintendent Sujit Patil, Uttam Shinde and SB Jagdale.

The Flying Squad 1 comprising Inspector Devdatta Pote, Sub-Inspector BS Ghuge, DS Suryavanshi and jawans Suraj Ghule, Jayram Kachra, Shaheen Inamdar, Mukund Pote, Chandrakant Naik and Sharad Handgar took the action.
