Pune: Suspected Mobile Theft Leads to Fatal Beating! Chikhali Police Make Two Arrests in Assault Case

Pune: A person was brutally beaten to death by two people with wooden bamboo and planks on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone. This incident took place between 5 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, near the shed in the open space owned by Prahlad Sonawane in Chikhali. Chikhali police have registered a case of murder and arrested two people in this case.

The name of the murdered person is Mahadev Vitthal Shinde, a resident of Ramdasnagar, More Patil Chawl, Chikhali. Police sub-inspector Vijay Janardan Panchmukh has filed a complaint at the Chikhali police station. Based on this, Raju Anil Ganguly, 28, a resident of Kudalwadi, Chikhali, and Vinod Shantaram Pawar, 22, a resident of Kudalwadi, Chikhali, have been arrested by police under IPC 302, 34.

According to the police, the accused, Raju Ganguly, suspected that Mahadev Shinde had stolen the mobile phone of a woman known to him. On Wednesday, around five o’clock in the evening, Mahadev Shinde came near the Chaudhary weighing fork in Chikhali. At that time, a woman known to Raju Ganguly was asking Shinde about her lost mobile phone. At that time, accused Raju Ganguly and Vinod Pawar came to that place.

After reaching there, both the accused started arguing with Shinde, asking him to return the mobile phone of a woman, which both the accused believed was stolen by Shinde. When Shinde refused the allegation labelled over him by the accused, the enraged accused hit on Shinde’s head with a wooden bamboo and planks lying there. In a further altercation, both the accused severely beat Shinde and later fled from the scene, leaving Shinde fatally injured.

The assault was so severe that Shinde succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot. After learning about the incident, Chikhali police promptly investigated the case and apprehended the suspects. Further investigation in this case is being conducted by Sub-Inspector of Police Mulik of Chikhali Police Station.
