Pune: In a shocking incident, a youth with a political background raped an actress and threatened her at gunpoint. A rape case has been registered against Viraj Ravikant Patil (35), a resident of Solapur, and under relevant sections of the Arms Act, at the Viman Nagar Police Station. The 32-year-old victim, a resident of Tingre Nagar, lodged a complaint on Friday in this regard.
Patil has been booked under sections 376, 376(2)(N), 377, 323, 504, 506 of the IPC and under the Arms Act. The incident took place between August 27, 2023 and January 20, 2024 in Viman Nagar and at a resort in Mulshi.
According to the police, Patil has a political background. The victim is an actress. They got to know each other on Facebook. The accused lured the victim by promising to marry her after divorcing his wife. Then he forcefully had physical relations with her. Later, he started avoiding her. The victim questioned this.
When she asked Patil why he was not introducing her to his family members, he abused her. Then he took out a pistol and pointed to her head and told her that he would not marry her. He threatened her with dire consequences if she approached the police. Woman PSI Chowdhary is investigating further.
