Sitaram Kunte appointed as the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister after retirement
Pune : Policenama online – Sitaram Kunte retired as the State Chief Secretary (CS) on Tuesday. Additional Chief Secretary Debashish Chakraborty has been given the additional charge of the chief secretary’s post.
Kunte has been immediately appointed as the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister in the Secretariat.
The State Government had sought three-month’s extension to Kunte’s service. However, an extension to his service was not declined. His likely extension was being discussed in Mantralaya.
According to sources, Chakraborty is an IAS officer of the 1986 batch. CM Uddhav Thackeray would soon decide whether to appoint a new CS or retain Chakraborty as a fulltime CS.
Chakraborty will retire in February 2022. Kunte has been made the Chief Advisor to the CM. Earlier, Ajoy Mehta was also appointed as the Chief Advisor after his retirement as the CS.
