UC Survey: 76% of digital users say lockdown should be extended

New Delhi: The 21-day lockdown is coming to an end next week. Meanwhile, the discussion about whether the lockdown should be extended or not has become a hot topic.

Many states in India have already appealed that the duration of lockdown should be extended to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country efficiently. While at the same time, Odisha has become the first state to extend the lockdown beyond the initial 21-day period without the official order from the Central government. Odisha now remains under a complete lockdown till April 30.

Seeing the current situation in the country where number of cases of Coronavirus infected are rising by several hundred every 24 hours, UC Browser conducted a survey among digital users in which 76 percent of the people believed that the time period of the lockdown should be extended beyond 21 days.

UC Browser asked questions in this regard simultaneously in Hindi, English, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Bengali and Punjabi languages.

Users were asked whether, in view of the current situation, they feel that the lockdown deadline should be extended. A total of one lakh 20 thousand 679 (1,20,679) people responded to this.

Out of which 92,149 people opted for ‘Yes’ whereas 30,510 people believed that the lockdown should end after the 21-day period.
