Union MoS Vikram Jardosh calls on Arunachal Governor in Itanagar

Itanagar, Dec 26 (UNI)- Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Darshana Vikram Jardosh called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

They discussed matters relating to promotion of the textile sector and improvement of railway services in the state, a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan said.

During the meeting, the Governor emphasized on strengthening the industry ecosystem in the State, which has a vibrant textile segment.

He said that large numbers of womenfolk of Arunachal Pradesh are involved in the textile sector and added that “such a proactive role of the Ministry will reinforce ‘Atmanirbhartha’ (self-reliance) amongst the Arunachali women in true sense”.

Besides stressing on promotion of traditional textiles of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor advocated fostering the growth of micro and small enterprises in the State, stating that it will be the growth engine for employment opportunities, with special focus on women empowerment.

Parnaik also called for better services for railway passengers, in view of large number of people availing the train services, especially the tourists. He further requested for commencing ‘Goods train/bogies services’ to facilitate transportation of goods and arts and crafts items to different parts of the country.

The Union Minister briefed the Governor on the proposed Railway projects in the state as well as initiatives being taken by the Textile Ministry to promote textiles industry, through training and marketing, the communiqué added.
