Accused gets noose for quadruple killings

Pune : Policenama online – In a long pending murder case, the accused has been awarded a death sentence for killing four members of a family of four.

The Sessions Court Judge, B. P. Kshirsagar, awarded the death penalty to Bhagwat Bajirao Kale (47), a resident of Bhoom village of Osmanabad district, for killing a couple and their two daughters aged 13 years and 9 years, a few years ago.

The deceased Ramesh Patil, was residing at Princeton Town Society of Kalyani Nagar area of Pune along with his wife and two daughters. The prosecutor had alleged that the accused had destroyed the evidence by dumping two bodies in the drainage hole.

The police had arrested the accused who was 22 years old at the time of the crime. However, he escaped from police custody while being taken to the Yerwada Jail. The accused Kale was absconding for 12 years before he was arrested again.

In the meantime, 20 people including investigation officers and witnesses died. Public Prosecutor Rajesh Kavedia while pleading before the court, demanded the death penalty for the accused. Kavedia argued that this was ‘the rarest of rare case’ in which the accused had killed an entire family, and didn’t show any mercy towards the children.
