Ahmednagar :   Policenama online  Union Co-operative Minister Amit Shah said today that Maharashtra is as holy as Kashi in the field of co-operative sector. He was speaking at the first co-operative conference held at Pravara Nagar in Ahmed Nagar district.

This conference was organised by Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil and was attended by opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis, opposition leader in legislative council Praveen Darekar and Sujay Vikhe along with others.

Shah praised the co-operative sector in the state. He said Balasaheb Vikhe Patil and Dhananjay Gadgil had laid the foundation of the co-operative movement in the state. It was strengthened by Padmashree Balasaheb Vikhe Patil. However, no one in the country thought that something should happen in the country on similar lines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi set up a ministry of co-operatives, he said.

He said today co-operative sector is facing problems. If there is some problem with the people in this sector, then it is our responsibility to solve it. “Each district central cooperative bank in Maharashtra was considered as sacred but at present, there are only three banks. Who committed fraud worth thousands of crores? Was it done by Reserve Bank of India?” he added.

Fadnavis said that Amit Shah has risen through the ranks through the co-operative sector. Modi made him co-operative minister because of his roots. Shah ensured that sugar mills were spared of tough action by the income tax department.
