Borrower returns ₹2.5 lakh after taking loan of ₹50,000; Lender seeks ₹55,000 more and issues threats; FIR registered at Chandan Nagar police station

Pune : Policenama online Pune Crime News | A man returned ₹2.5 lakh when he had borrowed ₹50, 000. However, an incident has come to light wherein ₹55,000 was demanded and the borrower was threatened that her husband would be kidnapped and would be forced to work as a farm labourer. A 45-year-old woman has lodged a complaint (139/23) at the Chandan Nagar police station. Accordingly, the police have registered an FIR against Bhagwat Pandurang Chhatre (48), a resident of Khandve Nagar. The incident took place from November 2012 to March 20, 2023.

 

According to the police, the complainant and her husband had borrowed ₹50, 000 from Bhagwat Chhatre at a monthly interest of five per cent per month. The complainant has returned ₹2.5 lakh till February 2023. However, Bhagwat was calling up the complainant at night and abused him. He threatened the complainant that he would take away their tempo and take her and her husband to his village and make them work as labourers till the money is recovered.

 

Chhatre called up the complainant on March 20, 2023 and told her to deposit ₹50, 000 and interest of ₹5,000 in his account. Chhatre threatened her that if the money is not paid, then he will take action against them. PSI Kumre is probing the case.
